Chotu Taj Safety Guide: The Law in India, the Scams Around the Taj Names and Free Help

Guide updated · Chotu Taj

Chotu mascot holding a gold shield for the Chotu Taj safety and legal guide

This Chotu Taj safety guide is the one page on this site we ask every reader to open at least once. It explains where the 02:50 PM draw stands in Indian law, what betting on it really costs, how the scams built around the Taj names work, how to tell when the habit has become a problem, where free, private help is available, and what to do if you have already paid someone for a number.

Nothing here is legal advice and nothing here is a lecture. It is the plain Chotu Taj safety information we would want a friend to have before they spend a rupee or an hour on these draws. If you only came for the number, the home board is one tap away; this page will still be here.

What This Chotu Taj Safety Page Is, and What This Site Is Not

This is an information site. It shows the number that the people who run the Chotu Taj draw have already published, keeps a monthly and yearly record chart, lists the draw time and the other Taj draws, and explains the words people use. That is the whole of it. We do not run a draw, we do not take bets or deposits, we do not sell or send numbers, and we never predict what the next number will be.

The reason this matters for safety is simple. Many pages with similar names mix a result card with a "join our group" button, a payment link or an app download. Each of those is a door to losing money; a result card on its own cannot take anything from you. The about page describes how the numbers are collected, and the disclaimer sets out the limits of what we show. So the Chotu Taj safety rules here fall into two groups: what the law says about betting on the draw, and how to protect yourself from the people who make money out of the game without ever running one.

Chotu Taj Safety and the Law: Where Betting on the Draw Stands in India

Gambling law in India works on three levels, and all three touch the Chotu Taj draw. The oldest layer is the central Public Gambling Act of 1867, which makes running or visiting a "common gaming house" an offence. Several states still apply it directly; Haryana, where Faridabad and Ballabgarh sit, is one of them.

The second layer is state law. Gambling is a state subject, so most states have their own act: Delhi from 1955, Uttar Pradesh from 1961, Maharashtra from 1887. The wording differs, but the effect is the same almost everywhere: betting on a number draw, running one, or acting as the bookie, the khaiwal, is an offence. A few states licence certain lotteries; none licences this draw or any draw like it.

The third layer is new. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act of 2025 prohibits online money games across India, together with the advertising and payment services that support them. That closes the argument that "online satta" is somehow different from the offline draw. Paying anyone, by any method, for a position on a Chotu Taj number is betting, and betting on the draw is illegal in most of the country.

The three layers of law behind Chotu Taj safety, and what each means for a reader
LevelWhat it coversWhat it means for you
Central: Public Gambling Act, 1867Running or visiting a gaming house; still applied directly in several states, Haryana among them.Betting through a khaiwal or a shop is an offence where this act applies.
State acts (Delhi 1955, UP 1961, Maharashtra 1887 and others)Each state sets its own rules; almost all prohibit betting on number games and punish the organisers.Where you live decides the exact penalty, but in most states the bet itself is unlawful.
Online: Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025Prohibits online money games nationwide, plus their advertising and payment support.A site or app that takes money for a number is breaking the law; so is paying it.
No registration anywhereNo draw, Chotu Taj included, is registered with any authority, and none can honestly call itself official.A page that claims a licence or a “company” behind the draw is lying.
Reading a resultLooking up a published number is not covered by any of these acts.Checking a result or a chart is information, not gambling.

Two things follow. You cannot go to the police or a court to recover a bet or a "deposit", because the agreement itself was unlawful. And a page that promises a "legal and licensed" Chotu Taj draw is lying; there is no licence to have. The page on how the game works has more on how the draws came to exist outside the law.

The Real Risks: Money, Time and the People Who Run the Draw

The law is one reason to stay away from betting. The arithmetic is the other, and no Chotu Taj safety guide is honest without it. There are a hundred possible numbers and one comes, so the fair price of a correct guess would be a hundred times the stake. A khaiwal pays less, commonly quoted at about ninety times, and the difference stays with him. Nobody beats that over time, whatever a chart or a "tip" seems to show.

Money and debt

Losses are small at first, which is the trap. A player who is down a few hundred rupees bets a little more to "get it back". Chasing losses is the single pattern that turns a habit into a debt. Loans from friends, then from loan apps, then from the khaiwal himself, follow the same path. Most readers who write to us about Chotu Taj safety start with the same sentence: "I was only trying to recover what I lost."

Time and attention

Following Chotu Taj alone means one check a day; following the whole board means checking a phone twenty times, waking at five for Disawar and staying up past eleven for Gali. Sleep, work and family time go first, even for someone who never loses a large sum.

Nobody is accountable

The draw is run by a private group with no office, no complaints line and no regulator. A number can be published late, and a khaiwal can refuse to pay with nothing to be done about it. This is why our card shows the minute a number was first seen, and why the result page tells you to wait when it shows XX rather than trust a chat message.

The Chotu Taj Safety Catalogue: Scams Around the Taj Names and What to Do

Most of the money lost around Chotu Taj never reaches the draw at all. It goes to people who sell the idea of a number. The crowd of Taj names makes the trick easier: a seller posts a guess for each draw, deletes the misses and screenshots the one that landed. The patterns repeat, so they are easy to recognise.

Scam patterns around the Chotu Taj and Taj names, and what to do about each
PatternHow it looksWhat to do
VIP, so-called leak, lucky number and khabar sellersA chat group or channel sells a number before 02:50 PM for a UPI fee, with screenshots of past wins as proof.Do not pay. Nobody has the number before the draw. The screenshots are the one guess that landed. Leave the group.
Fee after pass“Pay nothing now, pay us after the number passes.” Half the members get one guess, half another; the winners are asked to pay.Do not pay afterwards either. You were one of several groups sent different guesses.
Fake apps and APK filesA link offers an app for “faster Chotu Taj results”; it is an APK outside the Play Store that asks for SMS and contact access.Never install an APK sent through a link or chat. This site has no app. If you installed one, uninstall it and change your UPI PIN.
Copycat sitesA page with a near-identical name, often with 786, Old, Gold or VIP added, shows a result card plus a payment link or a group button.Read the address bar; bookmark one page you trust. The Chotu Taj Old 786 page shows how to check any site against the chart.
UPI collect requests and PIN or OTP asksA payment request arrives for a “membership”, or someone says a PIN or OTP is needed to “receive” a payout or a number.Decline every collect request you did not start. A PIN or OTP is only ever needed to send money. Refuse, block and report.
Deposit to unlockA page shows the card but hides today’s number behind a small deposit or registration.Close it. Published numbers are free everywhere; the deposit is the product.
Loan-app trapsAn app offers instant cash to keep betting, then harasses your contacts when repayment is late.Do not borrow to bet. If already caught, keep every message and report the harassment on 1930.

The common thread is a payment before anything is received, and pressure to make it quickly. Real information about the draw costs nothing and is never urgent. The Chotu Taj ka number page walks through why there cannot be a number before the draw, and the Chotu Taj Old 786 page shows how to tell this site apart from copies with similar names.

Signs of a Problem: A Chotu Taj Safety Self-Check

Nobody decides to develop a gambling problem. It arrives one small step at a time, which is why an honest check is useful. Read the eight questions and count the number of times you answer yes.

  1. Do you check results more than a few times a day, including at night or during work?
  2. Have you bet more than you planned to, or more than you could afford, in the last month?
  3. After a loss, do you feel you must bet again soon to win the money back?
  4. Have you borrowed money, used a loan app or delayed a bill because of betting?
  5. Have you hidden the amount you bet, or the fact that you bet, from family?
  6. Do you feel restless, irritable or low on days when you cannot follow the draws?
  7. Have you paid for a "tip", a group or a so-called leak more than once?
  8. Has someone close to you said they are worried about your betting?

One yes is worth noticing. Two or three means the game is already costing you something. Four or more is the point at which doctors use the word "disorder", a health condition rather than a weakness of character, and one that can be treated free of charge in India.

Setting Limits: Time, Money and a Results-Only Habit

Limits are the practical side of Chotu Taj safety. They work when they are decided in advance, in calm, and written down. They do not work when they are set in the middle of a losing evening. Three kinds matter.

A time limit

Pick the one or two draws you actually care about and ignore the rest. Open the card once after 02:50 PM, not every few minutes before it. Turn off notifications from any group that posts about the draws. If you follow Disawar, do not also set a five o'clock alarm for it; the number will still be there at seven.

A money limit

If you bet at all, decide the most you will lose in a month before the month starts, and treat it like money already spent. Never add to it, and never borrow to reach it. Delete any UPI contact that belongs to a khaiwal or a tipster, and switch off UPI collect requests from unknown people in your payment app. The best money limit is zero, and that is the Chotu Taj safety limit most long-time readers of this site actually keep.

A results-only habit

Many people follow the draws the way others follow cricket scores: with interest, without money. That is the habit this site is built for. Keep the curiosity and drop the stake, and use a page with no payment link so that the decision is made once rather than every afternoon.

Free Help, and What to Do if You Already Paid

The last part of Chotu Taj safety is knowing where to turn. Help for gambling problems in India is free and confidential: you do not have to give your name, and nothing you say is passed to the police.

Free helplines and reporting routes for anyone affected by the number game
LineWho it is forHow it works
Tele-MANAS, 14416Anyone whose betting, or whose family member’s betting, is affecting money, sleep or mood.Government mental-health helpline. Free, confidential, open day and night, in more than twenty languages.
Cybercrime portal, 1930Anyone who has sent money to a number seller, a fake app, a copycat site or a loan-app threat.File online in any language or call 1930. Keep the transaction ID, UPI handle, screenshots and dates ready.
Your bank or UPI appAnyone whose money has just left the account.Report the transaction as fraud in the app the same day; a fast report sometimes lets the bank hold the transfer.
This site’s contact pageA copycat page or a scam using the Chotu Taj name, or a wrong number on our card.We cannot recover money, but we can correct what we show.

If you have already paid someone for a number

  1. Stop. Do not pay the "second instalment", the "unlock fee" or the "pass fee".
  2. Save the chat, the UPI handle you paid, the transaction ID and the time.
  3. Report the payment as fraud in your UPI app the same day, and call 1930 or file on the cybercrime portal. The first hours give the bank the best chance of holding the money.
  4. Block the seller and leave the group. Do not argue; arguing tells them you will pay again.
  5. If an APK was involved, uninstall it and change your UPI PIN.
  6. Tell one person you trust. Shame is what keeps people paying.

The hardest step is usually the first sentence to a spouse, a parent or a close friend. Say the amount, say the date you want to stop, and ask them to hold the money for a while. If that feels impossible, start with 14416 and let the counsellor help you plan the conversation. If you take one thing from this Chotu Taj safety page, take that number.

For Parents and Partners: What You Can Do

If someone else in your home is betting on the draws, the same Chotu Taj safety steps apply with a change of tone. Anger does not help; shouting at a person who already feels ashamed pushes the betting into hiding. Three things do help.

  • Separate the money. Move household funds to an account the person does not control, and remove saved UPI contacts that belong to tipsters or khaiwals.
  • Make the first call together. Sitting beside someone while they dial 14416 is often what makes the call happen.
  • Protect yourself from the fallout. If loan apps are involved, keep every threatening message and report it; the harassment is itself an offence. For a teenager, check the phone for APK files and chat groups; the question and answer page covers what young readers ask most.

The Short Version of This Chotu Taj Safety Guide

Betting on Chotu Taj or any other draw is illegal in most Indian states and the people who run the draws answer to nobody. Never pay for a number, a group, an app or an "unlock", never share a UPI PIN or OTP to receive anything, and decline every UPI collect request you did not start. Decide your limits before you open a card, and if the habit is costing money, sleep or peace at home, call 14416; it is free and private.

18+ only. Betting on number games is illegal in most Indian states. This site shows published results for information; no number is a prediction, a tip or a guarantee. If gambling is affecting your money, sleep or mood, Tele-MANAS offers free, private help on 14416.

The number without a stake

The home board shows the Chotu Taj number the moment it is collected, with the time it came, and no groups, deposits or logins. That is Chotu Taj safety built into the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is checking the Chotu Taj result illegal?

No. Reading a published number or a chart is information, and no gambling law in India covers it. What the law prohibits in most states is betting on the draw, running it or acting as a bookie.

Is the Chotu Taj draw legal or registered anywhere?

No. No state licences this draw or any draw like it, and no draw is registered with any authority. A page that claims a licence or an owner is lying.

Can I get my money back from a khaiwal or a number seller?

From a khaiwal, almost never, because the bet itself was unlawful. From a seller or a scammer, sometimes, if you report quickly on 1930 and the bank can hold the transfer.

What is the Chotu Taj safety rule for chat groups?

Leave any group that asks for money, posts countdowns to a payment or sells a number before 02:50 PM. Real results are free and public at the same moment for everyone.

Who should call 14416?

Anyone whose betting, or whose family member’s betting, is affecting money, sleep or mood. Tele-MANAS is free, confidential and open day and night in more than twenty languages.

Does this site have an app I should install?

No. There is no Chotu Taj app from this site, and every page works in a browser. Any APK or app that uses the Chotu Taj name is not ours and should not be installed.

Someone sent me a UPI collect request for a “VIP membership”. What do I do?

Decline it. A collect request you did not start is a request for your money, nothing else. Block the sender, and if you already approved one, report it in your UPI app and on 1930 the same day.

Conclusion: Chotu Taj Safety in Five Lines

Betting on the draw is illegal in most of India and the arithmetic takes money from players over time. The scams around the Taj names are worse than the draw itself, and all of them start with a payment. A limit set in advance protects you; a limit set during a losing evening does not. Help on 14416 is free and private, and 1930 exists for money already lost. Keep the curiosity, drop the stake, and use the Chotu Taj home board as a place that shows a number and asks for nothing.
